After 15 months of work sponsored by the Fendi Italian fashion house, the Temple of Venus and Roma is ready to receive visitors again at the Colosseum Archaeological Park, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The €2.5 million restoration included structural work and new lighting at the Temple of Venus and Roma, located in the Roman Forum opposite the Colosseum, lasted 15 months and counted with more than 60 professionals.
According to the director of the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo, Alfonsina Russo, “thanks to Fendi, the largest known temple of ancient Rome, dedicated to Rome Aeterna and Venus Felix, is returned to its former glory and the volume we are publishing also valorizes its universal significance from a scientific point of view. Through this collaboration we reach a very high moment of synthesis of Italian identity focused on the charm and beauty of places and monuments that dialogue harmoniously with contemporary creativity, of which Fendi represents one of the main excellences”.
In 2015 Fendi Fendi sponsored the €2 million restoration of the Trevi Fountain and the cleaning of four famous Rome fountains, as well as installing a public sculpture by Giuseppe Penone outside its flagship store in the city centre.
