Pope Francis arrived at the historic site just after 9:00 pm and was received by local mayor Virginia Raggi in front of a crowd of more than 20,000 people, according to the Vatican.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This year the meditations for the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Way of the Cross<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> were written by the Italian nun Eugenia Bonetti, who focused her work on denouncing traffic of persons.
