The Government of Peru will invest 140 million dollars to guarantee the protection of the 38 natural reserves that the country has in the Amazon and whose total area amounts up to 17 million hectares.

The funds will be channeled through the Natural Heritage of Peru (PdP), which seeks to ensure the sustainability of the national system of protected natural areas for the next twenty years.

Wildlife surveillance teams will be acquired, resilience and mitigation strategies will be developed, and efforts will be made to increase and strengthen the participation of local populations in the management of natural reserves.
