The launch of a mobile application of native languages reinforces Bolivia’s campaign to develop tourism in indigenous communities while preserving aboriginal cultures, said the Minister of Culture, Wilma Alanoca. The app was joint development of the Bolivian Government and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI).

It offers short phrases and dialogues in the Quechua, Aymara and Guaraní languages to facilitate communication to tourists who visit communities and attend indigenous cultural activities. These phrases and dialogues are initially translated into the Spanish, English, French, Italian or German languages, which the application automatically detects according to the configuration of the cellular device.
