According to the latest Global Competitiveness Report, the country that hosts the ruins of Machu Picchu is one of the five most competitive destinations in Latin America, as highlighted by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (Promperú).
In the last four years, the country climbed nine positions in the global ranking (from 58 to 49) thanks to the growth obtained in pillars of the travel and tourism sector as infrastructure of tourism services and adequate policies in price competitiveness.
“From a total of 20 Latin American countries, Peru has managed to become one of the five best in tourism competitiveness, as well as improving worldwide in recent years. These results confirm that our country continues to be a tourist destination of great international interest”, said the Promperú executive president, Luis Torres Paz.
The head of Promperú stressed that for the rest of the year the organization will continue contributing to improve the image of the country at national and international level, informing Peruvians and foreigners about the best of the exportable offer and the condition of tourist, cultural and natural destination that the Andean nation owns
