The Peruvian government launched a package of measures that seek to ease the tourism sector situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The authorities announced the new loan program called “Business Support Fund for micro and small businesses” (FAE-mype).
According to the Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Edgar Vásquez, nearly 1,000 companies in the tourism sector received FAE-mype loans to face the impact of the crisis caused by the coronavirus. He also noted that about 18,500 artisans and tour guides have been benefited with bonuses from the government.
In addition, Edgar Vásquez indicated that regarding future tourism promotion, internal tourism will be promoted first when inter-provincial transport and domestic flights are possible.
According to the minister, it will be mainly “to the regions that guarantee an appropriate level of health. We still have measures to promote investment in the reactivation stage of the sector, this is something that we want to put at the disposal of tourism companies very soon”.
