With one of the New 7 Wonders of the World between its destinations -Ha Long Bay-, domestic travel will drive Vietnam recovery from the crisis.
Authorities from Vietnam announced new plans to quickly restart the tourism market as soon as the coronavirus pandemic ends, counting mostly on domestic tourism. The Deputy General Director of the Việt Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Ngô Hoài Chung, told the press that if the pandemic is under control by May, the domestic tourism industry could recover by the end of this year.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam will implement the “Safe Vietnam Tourism” programme as well as a domestic tourism stimulus programme with the cooperation of localities, transport and travel companies. Also, the tourism industry will focus on the business travel segment.
A key point in the ministry’s propose is the reconsideration of policies to create favourable conditions for tourists to Việt Nam, including visa exemptions or visa fee reductions, increasing flights and opening new routes to foreign countries.
