The Jordan Tourism Board participated in several virtual conferences during the country’s lockdown where different means to promote tourism in the Kingdom during and following the recovery period from the coronavirus were discussed.

The virtual conferences were organised by the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan, along with the Jordan Tourism Board and business entrepreneurs and start-up owners in the tourism industry. The main goal was to discuss modern and innovative solutions for the tourism recovery.

Programmes for visiting several tourist sites are the main topic the Jordan Tourism Board is currently working on for boosting the domestic tourism. According to the JTB, 40% of the cost of the programmes will be subsidised by the government, nearly JD10 million in support.

The JTB Director General, Abdulrazzaq Arabiat, stated that the board is currently giving virtual tours for tourism purposes using 360-degree technology, in addition to providing smart applications by specialised entrepreneurs in the tourism sector.

Domestic tourism will be a key part of the economic recovery, and Jordan is counting on the country’s New 7 Wonder of the World, Petra, to attract hundreds of Jordanians.
