After almost three months being closed, the New 7 Wonder of the World opened its doors to visitors on June 1. In addition to the Roman Colosseum, the Colosseum Archaeological Park includes the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and Domus Aurea.
According to the official statement, safety is the number one priority: the park is taking all the necessary precautions to keep the visitors safe, including a medical-healthcare service in the square outside the Colosseum.
All visitors are required to wear a mask, respect the social distancing and each one will have their temperature taken “before crossing the entrances to the Colosseum and the archaeological area of the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill”, according to the Parco Archeologico del Colosseo website.
Opening hours start at 10.30 and finish at 19.15, and tickets are available exclusively online at the Parco Colosseo website or the CoopCulture website.
To mark the occasion and as way to show respect to the victims of the coronavirus pandemic, the Colosseum was illuminated in the green, white and red colours of the Italian tricolour on the day of its reopening.
