In a statement made last week, the Rio de Janeiro governor, Wilson Witzel, authorized the reopening of tourist destinations such as the New 7 Wonder of the World Christ the Redeemer. Bars, restaurants, shopping malls and even soccer matches were also authorized.
All the places can only operate at 50% capacity, must offer hand sanitizer and visitors will have to respect social distancing. The opening hours will also be reduced.
However, according to Rio’s City Hall the city will be following the reopening plan in stages, and municipalities have the autonomy to regulate the restrictive measures, according to the reality of each one.
