In a statement made last week, the Petra Development and Tourism Regional Authority (PDTRA) announced that Jordanians would be exempt from entry fees to the New 7 Wonder of the World until the end of the current year.
According to the PDTRA Chairman, Suleiman Farajat, the decision was taken to encourage local tourist to visit the city of Petra and enjoy its antiquities, as a way to recover from the economic crisis due the coronavirus pandemic.
The development of a tourist product that suits local visitors, while finding new paths and providing promotional offers was also discussed by members of the tourism sector in Petra in a conference with the country’s Tourism Regional Authority.
