After months of closure due to the coronavirus pandemic Vietnam has agreed to resume commercial flights to and from China. The country that hosts the New 7 Wonder of Nature Ha Long Bay is one of the few asian countries that has not seen community infections for nearly three months, giving green light for resuming economic activity.
After the first cases were detected in Vietnam, the country suspended all commercial flights to and from China and stopped issuing visas for tourists in February. However, the visa suspension for Chinese tourists is still in place.
China is Vietnam’s largest source of foreign tourists: last year chinese tourists accounted for a third of the 18 million foreign tourists visiting the country. Nevertheless, domestic tourism in Vietnam has intensified during the absence of foreign arrivals, as a result of government campaigns to travel local.
