According to the Peruvian Prime Minister, Pedro Cateriano, the initiative will seek to stimulate more than 6 million potential travelers throughout the country that hosts one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu.
This campaign will be coordinated by the Tourism Quality program, along with national and international certification bodies to ensure that Peruvian destinations comply with the global biosecurity measures required.
“A domestic tourism campaign will be launched in the second half of 2020 under the umbrella of Marca Peru (Peru Brand). We expect to stimulate more than 6 million potential travelers and generate over US$104.8 million”, Cateriano stated.
Authorities also announced the creation of the Business Support Fund (FAE), with US$141.6 million meant for credit guarantees which will give tourism sector companies some economic relief.
