Representatives of different Latin American nations participated in the virtual meeting “Plans for the resumption of tourism in Latin America”, organized by WTM Latina America. The importance of tourism for Latin American economies and possible solutions to adapt to the new normal were discussed.
Tourism experts from Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia and Argentina met to discuss three specific items: Measures to assist and reactivate tourism, Protocols and Perspectives for the Region: Intra-regional Tourism.
Ricardo Sosa, representative of Argentina,the country that hosts the Iguazu Falls -one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature- as well as the Natural 7 Wonders of Argentina, was one of the exhibitors. “It is important that the region stays together and generates resources to develop its full tourism potential. Future tourism will demand sustainability and nature and Latin America is an oasis for all the travelers of the world. This meeting serves to plan and achieve common objectives, and to promote all Latin American tourism activity”, summarized Sosa.
Recommendations to achieve a faster recovery in tourism included: fostering collaboration between public and private sectors, adopting international standards and protocols to guarantee the confidence of travelers, and adopting new technologies to make all possible.
