After almost five months of closure, the Christ the Redeemer statue -one of the New 7 Wonders of the World- as well as the Sugarloaf Mountain, finally received its first visitors last week.
Rio’s government launched a new tourism campaign website, Rediscover Rio, which encourages state residents to head to tourist attractions by offering them half price tickets, as a way to reignite the sector.
Rio’s most famous attraction will operate at half its capacity, and it will open with reduced hours Sunday, with tourist vans traversing the hill and the tourist train operating at 25% capacity.
