After a surge in local coronavirus cases, the Jordan’s Ministry of Tourism decided to temporarily stop the Urdun Jannah domestic tourism programme for “sterilisation and other health precaution”, according to the official website.

The programme was created to offer Jordanians the chance to explore the Kingdom’s attractions, including the city of Petra, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. This campaign also aimed at increasing the contribution of youth and women to the Kingdom’s economic growth through tourism.

The programme attracted more than 104,000 participants within less than two months. Despite reports about its suspension, the Ministry of Tourism affirmed that the cessation of its services is ‘only temporary’.
