Cape Town -home to Table Mountain, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature- is currently developing a recovery plan for the next 10 years, in an attempt to re-establish the numbers at the tourism sector.

Cape Town Tourism Board member, Brett Hendricks, stated that they “have had to rethink the future of tourism. Do we continue to invest in the growth of international tourism at the expense of domestic tourism? We want to build a robust strategy for the next 10 years that will include our recovery.”

However, the city is now focusing on the cruise industry, since it has been poised as a significant opportunity for growth: Cape Town is expecting nearly 170.000 passengers and 41.000 crew members for the 2020/2021 season.
