After almost eight month closed, Inca citadel and one of the New 7 Wonders of the World reopened last Sunday with an ancient ritual full of colours to thank the gods for the reopening
During the ceremony, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister, Rocio Barrios, stated that “Machu Picchu opens with (health and safety) protocols, it opens to say that we are reactivating ourselves but with responsibility and great prudence, because we see everything happening in the world”.
As a way to comply with the sanitary measures, authorities established a limit of 675 visitors to access per day, just 30% of the number of visitors before the pandemic. All tourists must wear masks and buy the entrance ticket previously.
