The latest travel report from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) discovered that international arrivals fell by 72% in 2020, showing that tourism has returned to 1990 levels. The Wonder Effect is the best way to reignite tourism, since it is a phenomenon that shows the power of the New 7 Wonders of the World and Nature.

According to the official report destinations welcomed nearly  900 million fewer international tourists between January and October when compared with the same period of 2019. The 2020 Curiositas report showed how the visits to the 7 Wonders grew twice as much as the rest of the world tourism industry -and even some New 7 Wonders of Nature destinations grew up to three times more than tourism globally between 2010 and 2018- because of the Wonder Effect.

The UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili stated that “even as the news of a vaccine boosts traveller confidence, there is still a long road to recovery. We thus need to step up our efforts to safely open borders while supporting tourism jobs and businesses. It is ever clearer that tourism is one of the most affected sectors by this unprecedented crisis.”
