Even though the country that hosts Komodo Island, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, recorded 4.02 million foreign tourist visits during 2020, the numbers showed a 70% drop compared to the previous year.

According to Indonesia’s Central Agency of Statistics, in 2019 nearly 16.11 million foreign tourists visited the home to Komodo Island. However, the local authorities are still hopeful that domestic tourism will lead the sector recovery.

The numbers offered by the agency showed that in December 2020 there was a 14% increase in foreign visitors compared to November 2020, which gives a light of hope for Indonesia’s tourism industry.
