In an official event organized by the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Exports and Tourism (PROMPERÚ), the authorities announced an increase in exports during 2020 in the country of Machu Picchu, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Claudia Cornejo, said that during the 2020 pandemic Peru generated a movement of $39.3 billion dollars. The data released by the government showed that there were 7.518 registered export companies and that they made more than 4.000 shipments to more than 170 international markets.
The United States, the European Union, China, Canada, South Korea, Switzerland, India, and Chile are Peru’s main trading partners. Cornejo stated that “this is the result of a resilient behavior and attitude assumed by Peruvian exporters who managed to adapt to the new situation and maintained the presence of Peruvian products in the world with great perseverance”.
