With a new wave and new restrictions, Jordan’s tourism sector put its hopes in future travels with a novelty concept: revenge travel. The country that hosts Petra, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, sees an opportunity in the urge of travelling after several months of lockdown.
Even though experts point out that the sector will not fully recover until September, there is considerable optimism thanks to revenge travel, a new term that indicates the urge to travel after prolonged restrictions.
According to the head of the Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA), Awni Kawar, the “government’s incentive procedures regarding exempting travellers who received two doses of the vaccine from the PCR test upon arrival to the Kingdom as of May 15 will help travel return to normalcy”.
