On the International Museum Day, Rome’s Colosseum -and one of the New 7 Wonders of the World- was recognised for its long trajectory and for its willingness to provide better experiences to visitors by using technology.
The Colosseum Archaeological Park won the contest promoted by the Lazio Regional Coordination of ICOM (International Council of Museums) in partnership with the Sòphia High Tech company. The contest aimed at selecting experimental projects for the application of Industry 4.0 technologies for the protection of cultural heritage.
The PArCo presented a project centered on the large inscription of the Prefect of Rome Rufius Caecina Felix Lampadius, found in 1812 and currently on display in the park’s permanent exhibition. The winning project includes studies and prototypes for the creation of a 3D print of the large inscription, combining different materials for the support and for the inscription letters.
