South Korea’s New 7 Wonder of Nature, Jeju Island, received 1 million tourist arrivals during May and helped to grow the entire sector’s expectations.

The data recorded by Jeju’s Tourism Association indicated that nearly 1.1 million visitors traveled through the Island in May, numbers that were only seen three times since the start of the pandemic.

Despite the encouraging numbers, the local government announced the establishment of the Level 2 scheme for two weeks as a way to prevent an outbreak. Even though tourism attractions will remain open, they will have to operate at 30% its capacity and reduce the operating hours.
