Every 7 July commemorates the consecration of the New 7 Wonders of the World after being chosen by millions of people across the globe with the New7Wonders Foundation campaign. This year’s initiative decided to celebrate the 14th anniversary with the brand new “signs across the Wonders” initiative that aimed at uniting the world in a powerful way.
As a way to share the joy and the essence of the Wonders, people from all around were invited to post their photos on social media at any Wonder of the World with the hashtag #7WondersDay in order to strengthen the sense of community that New7Wonders holds.
The President and Founder of New7Wonders, Bernard Weber, stated that “everyone was connected celebrating #7WondersDay and their own Wonder. From China across the Philippines, Indonesia and Jordan, in South Africa, Italy, Argentina, Brazil and Peru, the message was united and the enthusiasm was as strong as ever: Happy 7 Wonders Day – a day to Wonder!“.
On July 7 2007, the largest worldwide voting campaign revealed that the New 7 Wonders of the World would be Christ the Redeemer, in Brazil; Machu Picchu, in Peru; Chichen Itza, in Mexico; the Colosseum, in Italy; Petra, in Jordan; the Taj Mahal, in India and the Great Wall, in China.
The 7 Wonders Day is an opportunity to also celebrate the New 7 Wonders of Nature and the National 7 Wonders, voted by millions in other official New7Wonders campaigns.
