The newest Universal Studios theme park to open in Beijing, where a part of the Great Wall -one of the New 7 Wonders of the World- is located, will develop a whole new series of tourist destinations along China’s capital.

According to Beijing authorities, the city’s plan is to develop a “tourist route that encompasses the Universal Studios theme park in Tongzhou district as well as its nearby destinations such as the Grand Canal, the Songzhuang artist village, the Taihu town, and the Zhangjiawan ancient town”.

Even though there is no opening date, the first phase of Universal Studios Beijing is scheduled to open this year with seven themed areas. From September 1, the theme park will start running trial operations and on September 20 the Universal Studios’ Beijing Resort already announced that it will officially open to the public. Both the resort and the park were designed to reflect China’s cultural heritage, Universal stated on its website.
