As part of the celebration of the World Tourism Day next September 27, India’s Government announced the launch of a series of initiatives to promote responsible and sustainable tourism in the home to the Taj Mahal, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
The first initiative will be the signing of a three-way memorandum of understanding among the Government of India, the Ministry of Tourism, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the Responsible Tourism Society of India (RTSOI).
The government also announced the launch of a “Responsible Traveller Guideline”, designed by the Responsible Tourism Society of India to make travellers aware of their responsibilities as well as to inculcate the ethics of responsible tourism through lectures, workshops and celebrity videos talking about the importance of being a responsible traveller.
