From November, Vietnam announced that fully vaccinated foreign tourists can visit five destinations, including the New 7 Wonder of Nature of Ha Long Bay, located in Quang Ninh province.
The decision was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, who approved a pilot plan to welcome international visitors as proposed earlier by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The five “pilot destinations” are Phu Quoc city in Kien Giang province, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Quang Ninh provinces and the central city of Da Nang.
The gradual border reopening consists of a three phase plan: in the first phase, the mentioned destinations “can receive foreign tourists within package tourism programmes arriving via either charter flights or international commercial flights”; the second phase will begin in January 2022 and “will connect destinations through regular charter and international commercial flights”; the last phase will arrive when the country fully opens to international tourism and the starting time will be based on the contemporary pandemic situation.
