The Minister of Tourism and Sports of Argentina, Matías Lammens, sent a warm greeting for the #CataratasDay, the celebration for the 10 years of Iguazu Falls as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

Today, November 11, the #CataratasDay was celebrated: the celebration of the 10 years of Iguazu Falls as a New 7 Wonder of Nature chosen by 500 million people in a global campaign organized by the New7wonders foundation.

As every year, the Iguazú National Park was once again the scene of celebrations in a moment to remember the campaign that united Argentina and Brazil to achieve a common goal, to become one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

In this framework, the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Argentina, Matías Lammens expressed with great pride a greeting and congratulations to this tourist destination: “I always talk about the Falls and say that one can go one, two or four times and always have the feeling of amazement upon arrival, it is the same as the first time you visit it”

Likewise, Minister Lammens affirmed that the Iguazu Falls is one of the great attractions that Argentina has to promote as one of the most important tourist destinations in the world.

#CataratasDay: the meeting to celebrate 10 years of Iguazu Falls as a New 7 Wonder of Nature

To remember and commemorate the 10 years of that 11/11/2011, the Ministry of Tourism of Misiones together with the New7Wonder Foundation, held a meeting between the main references of Puerto Iguazú tourism. They also invited visitors to Cataratas to join the festivities, remembering their experience through a post of their favorite photo in Cataratas with the hashtag #CataratasDay and contribute, once again, to make the wonder a worldwide trend in social networks.

The central meeting was held at the Interpretation Center of the Iguazú National Park and had the presence of the Minister of Tourism, José María Arrúa, Jean Paul De La Fuente, director of New7Wonders, and Jorge Bordin, president of the Puerto Iguazú Chamber of Tourism.

Due to its importance, exhibiting to the world its grandeur together with the last redoubt of the Paraná jungle, this unparalleled natural spectacle, which Argentina boasts in its northeast, celebrates this day along with six other international destinations: Ha Long Bay (in Vietnam); Komodo Island (in Indonesia); the underground river of Puerto Princesa (in the Philippines); Table Mountain (in South Africa); the Amazon River (shared between Peru, Colombia and Brazil) and the Jeju Islands (in South Korea). They have no order. There is no first or seventh Wonder. They are the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

The great waters (y-Guazú, in Guaraní) has established itself as a tourist destination, becoming an aspirational spot for the travelers’ agenda, which has meant a great qualitative and quantitative increase to the Argentine tourism balance.

During these ten years, its catwalks have been silent witnesses of the transit of more than one and a half million people per year in its best pre-pandemic era. They have also experienced the strange loneliness when Covid 19 struck the reality of the entire world. And now, it is seen to emerge again stronger than ever, leading the lists of favorite destinations of all the world’s agendas.

All this deserves to be celebrated by Misioneros, by Argentines, and by all the visitors of the world. The party is today: 11/11. The place, the networks. The presence, the image that makes the moment of becoming a witness to one of the most spectacular natural landscapes immortal.
