The New 7 Wonder of the World of Petra, located in Jordan, is showing clear signs of recovery and registered the highest number of visitors since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
According to the numbers registered by the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), the record was achieved in November where the highest number of monthly tourists since the outbreak arrived in Petra.
The figures include a total of 41,466 guests visiting Petra city in November, including 32,903 non-Arab visitors, 6,470 Jordanians and 2,093 non-Jordanian Arabs. The numbers even surpass October’s total of 39,272 visitors that marked another record and elevates the expectations for the last month of 2021.
According to PDTRA Chief Commissioner, Suleiman Farajat, these numbers are the result of the role of the low-cost airline flights and cruise ships in increasing the number of visitors as well as tourism activities that have supported Petra District’s businesses.
