Peru was present at the World Travel Market, one of the most important international tourism fairs. It took place in London, United Kingdom, from November 7 to 9.
“Our country participates featuring a 200-square-metre stand that seeks to showcase the best of the Peruvian tourist offer, with the aim of diversifying and strengthening our country’s image and contributing to our reactivation on a global scale,” said PromPeru Executive-President Amora Carbajal.
The official pointed out that 20 Peruvian companies were present on the commercial platform promoting their tourist products, showing its focus on adventure, nature, and sustainability to more than 50,000 international visitors.
“This presentation will allow entrepreneurs to consolidate important business meetings with professionals from the sector, seeking to secure commitments worth over US$800,000 thru the end of this event,” she indicated.
In this sense, a varied offer of destinations such as Lima, Ica, Arequipa, Cusco, Puno and Madre de Dios regions were promoted. In addition to the northern route with emphasis on Lambayeque, La Libertad, Loreto, San Martin, Cajamarca and Amazonas regions. It should be noted that the Amazon is among the New 7 Wonders of Nature, while Peru is also home to one of the New 7 Wonders of the World: Macchu Picchu.
“This allows us to showcase our tourist attractions (located) in various regions, hand-in-hand with birdwatching —an activity of great importance for the economic progress of regions in our country,” she said. The Peruvian stand presented the best gastronomy through coffee, pisco, and chocolate tastings at a bar set up for the occasion. Also, space was given to multicultural riches thanks to live presentations of various dances, as well as typical garments from the region.
It is important to remember that international tourism fairs are commercial events for the exhibition of said services where the supply and demand from many countries’ tourism industries converge, she added.
Peru seeked to show the best of the Peruvian offer in nature, adventure and sustainability in order to diversify and strengthen the image of the country, and contribute to their reactivation on a global scale.
In this sense, the official mentioned that Peruvian participation in the World Travel Market had as the main goal to recover outbound tourism and revenue generated for this sector by providing an international showcase, as well as a space for Peruvian companies to market their tourism products and adopt new trends in the travel industry.
