Colosseum, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World

It should be noted that one of the outstanding attractions of Italy is the Roman Coliseum, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World since 2007, considered one of the most visited tourist places in the country.

The Colosseum or Flavian Amphitheater is an amphitheater from the time of the Roman Empire, built in the 1st century. It is located in the east of the Roman Forum, and was the largest of those built in the Roman Empire. In ancient times it had a capacity for about 65,000 spectators, with 80 rows of stands. Those closest to the arena were the Emperor, his family and the senators, and as one ascended, the lower strata of society were placed.

Gladiator fights and public spectacles took place in the Colosseum. The works began between 70 AD. and were completed in 80 AD.
