The visit allowed representatives from different countries to see Iguazu Falls, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world and one of Brazil’s most important attractions, which is recognized worldwide.

More than 50 people participated in the 5th G20 Meeting of Space Economy Leaders, held from September 11 to 13 in Foz do Iguaçu, and in this context the participants visited the Iguaçu National Park. The visit took place at the end of the event, as if to give it a memorable ending.

Priscila Hardman, Head of Administrative Assistance of the Presidential Office of the Brazilian Space Agency and member of the Coordination of the 5th Meeting of Space Economy Leaders, accompanied the visit. In addition to it, 56 participants made the tour and enjoyed the incredible Iguazu Falls.

Priscila told how the experience of visiting the park was, “the intention of taking them to the Iguazú Falls was so that they could see what our country has to offer and also think about the climate, preservation and economy in the space sector. The experience was fantastic, they were amazed by the place, because it is fabulous.”

5th meeting of leaders of the G20 space economies

The term SELM (Space Economy Leaders Meeting) refers to an international forum that brings together representatives of the G20 member countries. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss and encourage the advancement of the space economy.

This year, the event was held in Brazil and took place in Foz do Iguaçu, with the theme “Space economy and climate change: challenges and opportunities.”

The objective of the event was to facilitate dialogue between space industry leaders, governments and international organizations on key issues related to the space economy and climate; promote partnerships and strategic collaborations between countries and organizations to promote sustainable development and innovation in the space economy; and share best practices, lessons learned and success stories in the application of space technologies to address climate challenges.

“These meetings are a unique opportunity to strengthen global collaboration on fundamental issues such as technological innovation, sustainability in space and the peaceful use of the space environment,” they said from the place.
