Semino Rossi is a singer from Argentina who triumphs in Europe, especially in German-speaking countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Germany, and also in other countries such as Denmark, Holland, France and Belgium, among others. In his career he has sold more than 10 million copies of his albums and received numerous and important awards from the music industry.

Almost all of his albums have reached number 1 in the charts of the countries mentioned above and in each of them he has been awarded (most of them with platinum, triple gold, double platinum or even eight times gold). Semino Rossi has already sold more than 10 million copies of his albums. He received the ECHO award, five times the Amadeus, four times the Goldene Stimmgabel, the Eins der Besten, the Goldene Henne, fifteen times in a row the Goldenen Enzian, the smago! AWARD in the category of “Europe’s most versatile live artist” and “the most successful male schlager star of the last 20 years”. He also received numerous other media awards in the German-speaking world.

On September 28, he gave a concert in Puerto Iguazú and took the opportunity to visit the Iguazú Falls, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.

In that context, the star of “Schlager” (German popular music) stressed that “the fact that Iguazu Falls is a Wonder of the World helps to take care of the environment and its preservation, it is a way of respecting and taking care of such a sacred and blessed place. Because sometimes I think I’m grateful to be able to meet them, but I also want my grandchildren and the children of my grandchildren and their great-grandchildren to also know these wonderful places on the planet. It would be a shame if our next generations didn’t know them, and that depends a lot on us.”

In addition the singer highlighted “it is an honor to be in my Argentine land that I love so much, it is a very special concert not only because it is for the benefit of the Guarani but also because I am in one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature of the World, and being in contact with nature gives you a lot of energy. And I realized many times, that when I get to that place that is magical, first the adrenaline levels go down and my heart beats in another time, and it’s because I think nature influences our lives a lot.”

Before offering his concert in Puerto Iguazú, Semino Rossi also confessed that “I am a little nervous but very happy, because even though I sing in more than 13 countries in Europe and in another language (German), singing in my country, in my mother tongue and for my people, makes this a special concert that I really want to do”.

Support for Voto Cataratas

In 2011, Semino Rossi participated and supported with his thousands of fans the Vote to Falls, at the closing of New Seven Wonders; where finally the Iguazú Falls were elected by the worldwide vote of the people, as one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world, which led to Semino Rossi being given the keys to the city of Puerto Iguazú.

In November of that year, a group of fans from Germany and Austria, mostly, made a trip to Argentina to know the attractions of the country and have the opportunity to live and share unforgettable moments with Semino Rossi.

Semino closed on that occasion, with a very high-level concert at Hito Tres Fronteras with a total full amphitheater, where there were visitors from the surroundings of the region, who traveled especially to listen to it.

The singer remembered with great emotion that concert of 2011, and said that he arrived in the city of the Iguazu Falls with 380 fans who arrived mostly from Austria and Germany. But he assured that he was surprised because the amphitheater was full, and Buses arrived from everywhere with people from the region who traveled to see it, “it was a unique and unforgettable experience, singing should be everywhere in the same way. But on this occasion I am united by a very special feeling because as an Argentine I never wanted to leave my land, I wanted to be an Argentine singer in Argentina and in Latin America perhaps, I never wanted to leave. I made the decision to leave because I didn’t find what I dreamed of so much, imagine coming back after 40 years and returning consecrated. Returning to my land again, is like reliving that childhood and those attempts to achieve something in my Argentina and it did not happen, but today the country receives me, in these payments at least (Puerto Iguazú) where they know me a lot, with a total full and the truth gives me a lot of satisfaction”.

Help to the Guarani communities

The renowned artist who triumphs in Europe also said that his help to the Guarani communities began when he met them, in 2011. And it is that one day before his concert that year, he visited a community and was received by 15 children singing, “I was very excited because something like this had never happened to me before in the musical part, they were a group of boys singing in the middle of the jungle, outdoors, in a full night, and although I did not understand anything, my heart vibrated and I said: I want to be your godfather, what do you have to do, what you need and the chief asked me for a school.”

In this regard, he commented that the school was built some time later “thank God, and it is school No. 941 of Jasy Porá. And it is the center of the community as the chief said it would be. I have been supporting them since then, with food, water, clothes and everything I can. Two weeks ago, for example, my fans sent 25 thousand dollars for the construction of a health and dental clinic, so that the boys can be treated twice a week. We also plan to build 50 homes, and if God will support me the program: Ein Herz für Kinder, we can do it faster,” he said.

“Music has always been part of my life”

In reference to his beginnings he commented “I have the happiness of being from a musical family, my mother played the piano until her last days last year, at the age of 88. My father sang tangos by trade and for the love of music, my brother plays the drums, my grandfather was a guitarist, he played the lute because he was an Arab from Lebanon. So music was always part of my life, like the solidarity help that my mother did every day by feeding someone who needed it. Music played a very important role in my life and at 5 years old I already decided that I want to be a singer, what I never thought is that it was going to be outside my homeland, I never thought it was going to be in German and that I never thought I was going to become popular singing in German, that never crossed my mind, I never imagined it.”

“I spent 20 years singing in hotels, restaurants, parties, and suddenly a person snuggles up to me on a friend’s 40th birthday and tells me: what a beautiful voice you have, do you dare to sing in German? And I told him: I dare to sing in Aramaic, in Lebanese, in whatever you want, but give me a chance please because I’ve been waiting for it for many years, I’ve sent hundreds of letters that I’m still waiting for the answers (laughs)” he said.

And he continued “when I went to the studio I sang: Don’t cry for my Argentina, they stopped me at a minute and a half, thinking that I had sung wrong, I told them: excuse me, it’s just that last night I was singing at a wedding until 3 in the morning. No, no, they tell me, it was so beautiful that we can already print it, make it public and sell it. They make me a contract and in the contract it said something very interesting, that if I sold less than 10 thousand copies they would terminate my contract, it would end. Imagine waiting 40 years for this moment, I asked God in my prayers to let me sell 10,500 or 11 thousand copies at least, so that my contract continues, with the wonder of God that my first CD sold 850 thousand copies, generous God!”.

With humility and joy, the artist also said that “the German world turns and wonders who is that Argentine who sings broken but sings cute, and that’s where my career begins, and I’ve sold more than 10 million copies, so I’m very proud and grateful of course.”

They currently call him the “Sandro of Europe, because Semino Rossi sings romantic music, something that makes him so proud because he admires Sandro since his childhood. What perhaps does not dimension this Argentine artist, is that with his effort, professionalism and charisma, he conquered a very different audience from Sandro, a demanding audience and perhaps not as “warm” as the Latino, but finally it is an audience that gave Semino Rossi an important place in their hearts for more than 20 years, and today they continue to choose this “Schlager” star as a favorite.
