Prime Minister Han Duck-soo met with his Vietnamese counterpart, Phạm Minh Chinh, at the Seoul Government Complex in the Jongno-gu district. Both officials discussed the expansion of trade and investment and agreed to increase bilateral trade to $150 billion over the next six years.

They also decided to continue promoting cooperation and support in sectors such as cutting-edge and emerging industries, science and technology, development cooperation, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), venture capital companies and startups, supply chains of essential minerals, and exchanges in culture, tourism and people.

Both prime ministers agreed to work closely so that the Partnership Summit for Green Growth and Solidarity for the 2030 Global Goals (P4G) is successfully held next year in Vietnam and to open a Vietnamese consulate general in Busan this year.

As for tourism, they highlighted the benefits and tractions of both countries, such as being the island of Jeju in South Korea – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature. And in Vietnam, Ha Long Bay, another of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world.

On the other hand, and on regional and international issues such as North Korea’s nuclear program and tensions in the South China Sea, they exchanged views and agreed to strengthen bilateral strategic communication and cooperation and jointly contribute to regional peace, stability and prosperity.

In their talks, both parties also concluded and exchanged nine inter-institutional memorandums of understanding on development cooperation, trade and investment, SMEs, venture capital firms, innovation and startups, environment, competition and consumer protection, education and human resources development.
