The Iguazú Falls received in 2024, 3,230,292 visits, 1,893,116 people toured the Park on the Brazilian side, becoming this year the most visited after the COVID 19 pandemic.

This number of visitors in 2024 is the third largest mark in history in the Iguaçu National Park, just behind 2018 and 2019, the period prior to the pandemic. Brazilian tourists with 1,119,590 visits, represented 59% of the total audience, 3% more than in 2023. And the remaining 41% broke the record of nationalities in the same year, with 190 countries present in 2024, surpassing the previous record of 178, recorded in 2019.

“We close 2024 with historical numbers that reflect the love of Brazilians for their tour attractions and the charm that the Iguazu Falls awakened around the world. This record of national visits, allied with the presence of 190 countries, is a framework that consolidates the Iguaçu National Park as a global destination of connection with nature. All this is possible thanks to the work together with ICMBio, which allows us to innovate and offer unforgettable experiences for visitors, always in harmony with the conservation of biodiversity,” said Mario Macedo, president of Urbia Cataratas, concessionaire responsible for the tourist management of the Park.

In addition, from the sector they assure that these numbers also provided a good hotel occupancy in the destination, which is maintained in this month of January 2025.

In Argentina

The Iguazu Falls are a shared destination between Argentina (80%) and Brazil (20%) and since November 11, 2011 are one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world.

On the Argentine side, meanwhile, they received 1,337,176 visits and from the sector they highlighted that at the end of each tourist season during 2024, “we always appeared in the first places of the most chosen destinations in the country, something that fills us with pride.”

Of the total, 51% were national tourists and the rest came from other countries.

On the other hand, 2025 began with very good expectations, since hotel occupancy in Puerto Iguazú- Argentina is 82% with many establishments above that number. And from Iturem they said that the second half of January is expected to be even better.

“We are at an 82% general average of hotel occupancy, with many establishments, even, above that number. We visualize a first fortnight around that data and from the second it will gradually increase. Reservations are given day by day, and there is a greater turnover with reservations of 2 or 3 days. We have very good expectations for this year that has just begun” said the president of Iturem- Leopoldo Lucas.
