From February to April, various regions of the country are preparing to live this festive season full of color and joy.
The Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPerú) and ‘Y Tú Qué Planes’ invite you through an advertising campaign to be part of one of the most emblematic celebrations of the country, where tradition and culture come to life.
Regions such as Amazonas, Áncash, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Apurímac, Cajamarca, Cusco (where the historic sanctuary of Machu Picchu is located. one of the New 7 Wonders of the World), Huánuco, Huancayo, Junín, Loreto (where they make excursions along the Amazon River, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature), Madre de Dios, Pasco, Puno, San Martín, Tacna, Ucayali, Tumbes, Piura, among others; they hope to receive tourists during this holiday season, which this year will extend until April.
PromPerú seeks with its campaign that all Peruvians and foreigners tour the various regions of the country and participate in these important festivities. “It is a perfect opportunity to enjoy cultural activities and, at the same time, discover the wonderful tourist attractions that Peru offers in all its extension,” they said.
Through the digital campaign #CarnavaleaPerú, PromPerú seeks to position carnivals as a key attraction for tourism and promote the various activities prepared for this season.
NATIONAL CARNIVALS
Ayacuchano Carnival (March 1 to 5) declared Cultural Heritage of Peru in 2003, is an emblematic celebration that fills the streets of Ayacucho with joy, colors, dances and music, attracting visitors from all over the world.
Tarmeño Carnival, Junín region (February 28 to March 5), a traditional celebration of colonial origin. In the central night, in the ‘breaking of the muliza’, the neighborhoods compete with new compositions that exalt the love, heartbreak and beauty of Tarma and its people, while the participants dazzle with colorful and elaborate costumes.
Carnivals of Cajamarca (March 1 to 5), one of the most important festivities in the region and the country. Their celebrations extend almost a month, from their preparation to the central week, with contests, parades and main events.
