The city of Puerto Iguazú was highlighted by Booking as one of the 10 most sustainable destinations in Argentina, according to the annual report “Travel and Sustainability 2025”. This adds to the fact that the city of the Falls is the first in the country and the world, with one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, to obtain the “Biosphere” certification.

“These recognitions value the commitment of our destination to a responsible tourism model, which protects the environment and promotes local cultural identity,” said the president of Iturem, Lic. Leopoldo Lucas.

Booking’s study “Travel and Sustainability 2025” revealed that 76% of Argentines look for authentic experiences that represent the culture of the place they visit, and 60% consider that tourism can have a positive impact on destinations.

In that sense, the Iguazú destination is positioned as a reference, since most of its accommodations have sustainability certifications, responsible consumption is encouraged and it works in an articulated way between the public and private sectors.

In addition, programs such as Greener Hotels, Biosphere and various local initiatives promote good environmental, social and economic practices throughout the tourist chain.

It should be noted that in May, in an event held at the Iturem facilities, the destination Iguazú, cradle of the Iguazú Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world, officially received the international certification “Biosphere”, which recognizes the city as the first sustainable tourist destination in Argentina.

And in this way he also became the first with one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world, to obtain this certification.

“These recognitions are not coincidences, they are the result of a sustained commitment to the present and future of our community. Choosing Iguazú is betting on a tourism that cares, values and transforms,” concluded Leopoldo Lucas.
