The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the Korean Tourism Organization (KTO), launched the Summer Accommodation Party, a promotional coupon campaign designed for the high holiday season.
One of the main attractions of this edition is the distribution of 400,000 discount coupons for accommodation, divided into three categories: special regional coupons, general coupons and coupons for disaster-affected areas.
First of all, from May 28 to 30, 41,500 regional coupons were distributed for lodgings located in 13 provinces and cities such as the province of Gangwon and the island of Jeju, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world and one of the most visited sites in the country. These grant a discount of 50,000 won for reservations over 70,000 won.
Secondly, from June 2 to July 16, 258,500 general coupons valid for stays outside the Seoul metropolitan area will be made available, that is, excluding the capital, the province of Gyeonggi and the city of Incheon. These offer 30,000 won discount for reservations from 70,000 won and 20,000 won for those between 20,000 and 70,000 won.
The third type of coupon is intended for special areas affected by disasters, such as forest fires and the Jeju air accident that occurred on December 29, 2023. A total of 100,000 coupons will be distributed between June 18 and July 17. Beneficiaries will receive a discount of 50,000 won for reservations greater than 70,000 won and 30,000 won for reserves below that amount. The areas included are: Sancheong-gun and Hadong-gun counties (Gyeongsangnam-do province), Andong city, Yeongdeok-gun, Yeongyang-gun, Uiseong-gun and Cheongsong-gun counties (Gyeongsangbuk-do), Ulju-gun (Ulsan), Muan-gun (Jeollanam-do) and Gwangju city.
Regional and general coupons can be used from June 5 to July 17, while coupons for disaster-affected areas will be valid until July 31.
The coupons are available from May 28 on the web portals of the participating travel agencies, in order of request and while stocks last. Only one coupon per person will be allowed.
Once obtained, the coupon must be used to complete the reservation and make the payment between 10:00 a.m. on the same day and 7:00 a.m. the next day. If not used within this period, the coupon will be automatically invalidated. Each person will be able to use only one of the three types of coupon available.
