Taj Mahal of India, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, leads the monument’s revenues with record profits of millions of rupees from ticket sales, between 2019 and 2024.
In this way, the Taj Mahal is considered the most favored tourist attraction in India, generating the highest income from the sale of tickets between monuments protected by the Archaeological Service of India (ASI).
From fiscal years 2019-20 to 2023-24, the Taj Mahal of India leads the monument’s income with record profits, according to data published by the Union government in the Rajya Sabha.
Other notable landmarks that made the list of the top 10 for ticket income include the Sun Temple in Odisha, Golconda Fort in Telangana, Mamallapuram in Tamil Nadu and Fatehpur Sikri in Agra. During these five years, the Sun Temple generated more than Rs 34 million rupees, Golconda Fort brought Rs 16 million rupees and the Mamallapuram monuments collected over Rs 32 million rupees. Collectively, ASI’s profits exceeded 900 million rupees (about 10.5 million dollars) from 2019-20 to 2023-24.
