In the first five months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached 9.2 million, an increase of 21.3% compared to the same period last year. Tourists arrive mainly from Asia, Europe and America, and among the most visited places is the Bay of Ha Long, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world.

In 2025, Vietnam’s tourism industry has set itself the ambitious goal of receiving between 22 and 23 million international visitors, serving 120 – 130 million nationals and achieving total revenues of about 42 billion dollars.

According to statistics from the National Tourism Authority of Vietnam (ANTV), of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with the Tet holidays (Lunar New Year) that lasted nine days (from January 25 to February 2, 2025), the locations throughout the country recorded a large increase in the number of travelers, thus generating large incomes in the first month of the year.

Nguyen Trung Khanh, director of ANTV, said that Vietnamese tourism is ready to start a new stage of development, full of momentum and resilience. In addition, he highlighted that the country’s leisure industry faces new opportunities to consolidate itself as a key economic sector in socioeconomic development, meeting the expectations of the Party, the State and the people.

It is anticipated that 2025 will be a key year, marked by a strong recovery in tourism after the great fluctuations, he stressed. To achieve these objectives, the sector focuses on depth, quality, professionalism, sustainability and brand strengthening of its products and services.

In particular, work is being done to improve the quality of service, with the aim of creating more attractive and high quality products, capable of offering truly unique and impressive experiences to tourists.

In 2024, thanks to a flexible visa policy and effective tourism promotion and advertising activities, Vietnam received more than 17.5 million international visitors, which represented an increase of 39.5% compared to 2023, thus achieving the established objective.
