“I’ve traveled all over the world, but I’ve never had an experience like this. It’s incredible.” This is the statement of the event organizer, Denise Haywood, from New York- USA. USA, who visited the Amazon for the first time to celebrate the 58th edition of the Parintins Festival, celebrated in the last days of June in the Amazon region, one of the New 7 Seven Wonders of Nature in the world.
Delighted with the party, she described it as “a transformative experience that everyone should live at least once in their life.”
Denise Haywood won a plane ticket drawn by the Government of the Amazon through the State Tourism Company (Amazonastur), in collaboration with Azul Linhas Aéreas and the tourism sector, during the launch of the Visit Brasil- Amazon Gallery, promoted with the support of Embratur in September 2024 in New York.
During the Festival, the visitor attended the last night of presentations of the bois bumbás Caprichoso and had her place in the institutional box of Amazonastur, in the Bumbódromo.
Impressed with the show, she reinforced the cultural potential of the state. “The people, the dances, the colors, everything is exciting. Come and see the Amazon. It’s much more than a jungle,” he said.
Amazonastur’s Marketing Director, Ana Claudia Rego, highlighted the importance of the international presence at the event. “We receive guests from various parts of Brazil and the world. This exchange is part of the strategy of the Government of the Amazon to promote tourism and local culture. The increase in the flow of tourism generates income and development for our population,” he said.
The Parintins Festival is considered the largest open-air festival in the world and one of the main cultural attractions in Brazil. Every year, it boosts the local economy, enhances traditions and strengthens the image of the Amazon as a unique tourist destination in the world.
In this edition, the festival attracted more than 120,000 tourists to the island of Tupinambarana (369 kilometers from Manaus).
Tourist Station
During the 58th Parintins Festival, Amazonastur inaugurated the 5th edition of the Tourism Space, located in the Tourism Room, in front of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Carmen.
The space offers tourist services, information on routes through the “Amazonas To Go” platform, delivery of the Parintins Passport, photo booth and instagrammable experiences, contributing to a better reception of visitors.
Another highlight was the Gastronomic Square, with an offer of typical dishes, appetizers, sweets and regional objects. The space integrated the programming of the Panavueiro Festival, which featured musical performances and live transmission of the shows of the bois-bombás on screens.
