The Iguazú Falls, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world, received on Friday, August 22, the tourist one million, a milestone that was achieved two months earlier than in 2024. The award-winning tourists are from Buenos Aires: Sol Monserrat, Maximiliano Salomón and their children Ana and Julián, who were accompanied by Rodrigo and Matías Días from Spain.

This growth reflects the strong positioning of the destination and the articulated work between the public sector, the private sector and the local community.

Leopoldo Lucas, president of the Municipal Tourism Entity of Iguazú (ITUREM), highlighted the central role of the collective effort, “our promotion strategies, constant and sustained, were strengthened in this difficult moment of the country, and focused on the work of our people. That commitment is the real engine of this achievement.”

And he added “in a challenging economic context, the destination Iguazú remained active in national and international promotional actions, strengthened its tourist offer and bet on sustainable tourism. To the classic Iguazú Falls, there are proposals of nature, local culture, safety, sustainable hotels, gastronomy and experiences in contact with original communities.

With this new achievement that is reflected in the arrival of the tourist one million (a fact that was recorded for the first time at the end of December 2008), the destination consolidates its leadership in the tourist map of the country, with a diverse, sustainable and growing offer, which responds to the new demands of the traveler and positions Iguazú as one of the most chosen destinations by national and international tourists.

At the time of the arrival of the “one million tourist” participated the Minister of Tourism of Misiones- José María Arrúa, the mayor of the Iguazú National Park- José María Hervás, the president of Iturem Leopoldo Lucas, Carol da Rosa- general manager of Iguazú Argentina S.A (concessionaire of the services in the Cataratas area), the businesswoman Patricia Duran- president of the Iguazu Convention Bureau (ICB) and other officials and entrepreneurs of the sector.

The tourists received institutional gifts such as T-shires, caps, mats and light bulbs and other merchandising products from the Ministry of Tourism of Misiones and the Municipal Tourism Entity of Iguazú (ITUREM), they also received vouchers from the private sector of different hotels, gifts from the Duty Free Shop and Iguazu Jungle Explorer, among others.
