On Thursday, August 28, it was officially announced that, from December, the city of Puerto Iguazú, birthplace of the Iguazú Falls, will have a direct flight to Lima-Peru, through the low-cost airline Flybondi.

This direct flight will unite two Wonders of the World: the Iguazu Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world – and the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu in Peru – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

The announcement was headed by the governor of Misiones- Hugo Passalacqua, the Minister of Tourism of the province, José María Arrúa, and the CEO of the company, Mauricio Sana. The presentation was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Tourism of Misiones and brought together provincial authorities, entrepreneurs and representatives of the tourism sector.

Among those present were the Minister of Finance, Adolfo Safrán; the businessmen Patricia Duran Vaca and Alejandro Arrabal, along with other representatives of the field. The news generated great expectation due to the impact it will have on the tourist development of the province and in particular, of the city of Puerto Iguazú.

The new flight will connect Iguazu Falls International Airport with Jorge Chávez International Airport, in Lima, one of the main hubs in the region that receives operations from 23 countries. This will allow tourists from different parts of the world to arrive in Iguazú without having to go through Buenos Aires, enhancing the arrival of international visitors to the greatest tourist attraction in Misiones.

With this new route, the province of Misiones is committed to expanding its connectivity and strengthening the growth of receptive tourism, generating new opportunities for the hotel, gastronomic and service sector throughout the region.
