Brazil stands out for its many attractions, among which are the Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, in addition to the Iguazu Falls – an attraction shared with Argentina, which is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, and the Amazon, an attraction shared by 9 countries that is also one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, stressed that “international tourism is one of the great engines of our economy. The millions of dollars spent by foreign visitors in the Brazilian market is significant for the movement of a whole chain of micro and small employers, which form the vast majority of enterprises in the sector, and, mainly, generate employment and income to support thousands of Brazilians who work in tourism. This record volume of resources also reflects the result of Brazil’s international promotion work carried out by Embratur, and other public and private organizations, which has provided another historic year in the results of international tourism in our country.”
From January to August, Brazil received 6.52 million international tourists
“The work of Embratur, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, states, municipalities and private sectors, aims to strengthen the presence of visitors from other countries. As initiatives of international promotion and attraction of new flights, we aim to increase the flow of tourists and, consequently, the profits for the country,” said the official.
From January to August 2025, Brazil received 6.52 million international tourists. The result represents a growth of 46.6% compared to the same period of 2024 and establishes the highest accumulation ever recorded for the first eight months of the year.
The volume of foreign visitors this year is very close to that recorded throughout last year, when 6.77 million tourists from other countries arrived in Brazil.
In August, the performance was also memorable: 576,000 international arrivals, an increase of 37.8% compared to August 2024. It was the best August in history, even surpassing the 2016 record, when the country received 537,000 visitors in the month, a year marked by the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
