The flight will start operating on December 1 with 4 weekly frequencies, on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The flight duration is estimated at 5 hours, and round-trip fares are sold from 420 dollars. In this way, two Wonders of the World come together: the Iguazú Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature and Machu Picchu (Peru) – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

In an interview with Visit7Wonders, the president of Iturem de Puerto Iguazú- Leopoldo Lucas, highlighted that they have very good expectations for the flight that will connect the Iguazú Falls (Argentina) with Lima (Peru).

In this context, he recalled that recently the cities of Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) and Machupicchu (Peru) signed an institutional, tourist and cultural twinning agreement, formally uniting two of the most emblematic and admired destinations in the world: the Iguazú Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, and Machu Picchu – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

The agreement between these New Wonders of the World represents a real commitment to international cooperation, exchange of experiences in sustainable tourism and joint promotion in global markets, highlighting common values such as biodiversity, the ancestry of the original peoples and Latin American identity, among other things.

In this regard, Lucas explained that “with this agreement we try to strengthen the flight that will begin on December 1, with a great work of the Ministry of Tourism of the province and the accompaniment of the governor of Misiones- Hugo Passalacqua. It is a way that we have to thank and accompany the realization of these flights.”

And he added “being connected to a few hours directly without having to go through Buenos Aires, is very positive for tourists and tourism agencies around the world, when programming the packages, because we know that international tourists when they look at South America as a destination think of knowing these two great places, which are Wonders of the World.”

As for the flow of visitors received by these two “Wonder Destinations”, the head of Iturem said that “we expect a million and a half visits this year, and Machu Picchu in Peru receives approximately 800 thousand visitors. Our Park is working to receive that number of visitors and more too, with approximately 6 or 8 thousand visits per day, without any problem, because the infrastructure is prepared for it.”

The flight

The direct flight between Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) and Lima (Peru) will begin operating on December 1, with 4 weekly frequencies, which will be on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

It will leave at 6.10 in the morning from Puerto Iguazú (Argentine time) and arrive at 9.10 (Peru time) in Lima, with a duration of approximately 5 hours of flight.

Then it will leave at 10.10 from Peru to arrive in Iguazú at 17.10 (Argentine time).

“They are very good schedules. All agencies and operators are already assembling packages with these flights and are already selling them. We have very high expectations,” said Leopoldo Lucas.

Round-trip fares are obtained from 420 dollars, “a very convenient rate, it is something we had been working on because they always ask us at the fairs to improve the connections of the flights and this concreteness goes in that line” said the official.

Beyond being able to visit these two emblematic destinations, the president of Iturem highlighted that the flight to Argentina is excellent, since being connected to Lima, international flights with a stopover in Lima can be offered at a very convenient price. “Many companies and operators are already working with this scale, to connect Argentina with the world, leaving from Puerto Iguazú” he said.

Finally, Lucas commented that the Iguazú destination continues to grow, betting on its infrastructure, always thinking about offering more and better services. In that sense, he said “we continue to inaugurate connectivity and recently we also inaugurated a Convention Center for 9,200 people, this will allow us to continue positioning ourselves as an event destination. We always work to offer better services and greater connection, all positive things for the destination, to continue growing, to continue generating labor for our people and so that tourists from all over the world feel at ease and live wonderful experiences when they visit us”.
