This flight, which began operating in December, unites two Wonders of the World: the Iguazu Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature (Argentina) and Machu Picchu (Peru) – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

The inaugural flight of the Lima (Peru)- Puerto Iguazú (Argentina) route, operated by Flybondi, landed on the afternoon of December 1 at Cataratas international airport, marking a new chapter in the airline’s international expansion.

Flybondi’s commercial manager, Javier Soto, traveled on board the plane, who described the experience as “very rewarding” and underlined the tourist and economic potential that this new connection opens up.

“I was part of the flight and it came very complete, with many Flamengo fans who traveled very happy. It was a relaxed trip, with songs and good weather. I didn’t see Palmeiras shirts, although surely there were some, but everything went on in peace,” Soto said with a laugh when describing the atmosphere on board.

A new gateway for thousands of tourists

Soto highlighted that the Lima-Iguazú route represents a strategic advance for both Flybondi and Misiones. “The inaugural flight means a lot. It is a new gateway that will allow thousands of tourists from Peru and abroad to reach Iguazú directly, taking advantage of the large flow that Peru’s Jorge Chávez International Airport concentrates today,” he said.

The commercial manager remarked that this connection will not only benefit Puerto Iguazú, but also the Brazilian cities of the south and east that use the destination as a gateway. “It is a great opportunity to generate income, tourism and commerce. This serves us all,” he said.

Frequencies and rates

The new route will operate twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.

Departure from Puerto Iguazú: 5:00 in the morning.

Departure from Lima: around 22:00.

As for the prices, Soto indicated that the section is offered from 160 dollars plus taxes, so a round-trip ticket is around 400 dollars.

Expansion and new routes

The launch of Lima-Iguazú is part of an accelerated growth stage for Flybondi. “Today we also inaugurate our Buenos Aires-Asunción flight, and next week there will be more inaugural routes, both international and cabotage,” Soto said.

Among those novelties is the return of a historic flight of the company: Córdoba-Iguazú, a route that operated before the pandemic and that will now be restored. “Puerto Iguazú will be receiving flights from Buenos Aires, from Córdoba and, now, from Lima. In addition, we continue to fly to Posadas,” he explained.

Joint work and tourism promotion

Soto explained that the Lima-Iguazú operation is planned for the whole year and that a progressive growth in occupation is expected in the coming months. For that, Flybondi works together with the province of Misiones and with PromPerú, the official body in charge of promoting receptive tourism to Peru.

The commercial strategy includes training and tourism promotion actions. “Next week we will have a training with agencies from the Three Borders, and in the next two weeks there will be fam tours with agencies from Peru that will visit Puerto Iguazú. All this is being organized together with the province and the city,” he explained.

The inaugural flight from Lima-Iguazú is thus consolidated as a milestone for Flybondi and for the region, opening a new path of international connectivity in two of the most important tourist destinations in South America, the Iguazu Falls – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature and Machu Picchu (Peru) – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
