Deforestation in the Amazon – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world – fell 11.08% between August 2024 and July 2025 compared to the same period of previous years, according to data published by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.

These figures were the best in more than a decade and mark the fourth consecutive year of reduction in deforestation.

In addition, Brazilian authorities launched in September a satellite surveillance and data analysis system to measure deforestation daily, according to EFE, which relies on artificial intelligence to detect any changes in vegetation that may result from logging, mining, fire or other activities.

This tool, according to the Government of Brazil, will improve the control of the so-called lung of the planet.
