The Iguazú Falls, one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in the world, shared by Argentina (80%) and Brazil (20%) close an excellent 2025, surpassing 3.5 million visits between both parks.
In Argentina
The Iguazu Falls exceeded one and a half million tourists, a very important number for the destination. In this regard, Leopoldo Lucas, president of Iturem (Argentina) said “we make a positive balance of 2025, we have worked hard on the promotion of the destination, we participated in 23 fairs and promotional events around the world and in Argentina and the region, looking at the strategic markets for our destination. We have worked hard in the reception of press, guests and influencers who helped us show the experiences of our destination to their followers, we did a lot of communication work, and we see the results.”
And he added “because at a time that is not so easy for national tourism, we are closing the year with a record number of more than 1.5 million visits to the Iguazú Falls, it is an important number for the destination. And we were able to get most of that million and a half visitors to enjoy our sustainable hotels, our gastronomy, that they enjoy the security of our city, where they can go for a walk at night or at the time they want and where there are also 40 more attractions to visit.”
A flight that unites two Wonders of the World
In December, the air route that connects the Iguazu Falls with Lima-Peru was inaugurated, thus uniting two Wonders of the World, since from Lima the excursions to Machu Picchu are made – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World. And the Iguazú Falls are one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
The flight duration offered by Flybondi is estimated at 5 hours, and round-trip fares are around 400 dollars.
In reference to this flight, the owner of Iturem said “we have two weekly frequencies, on Mondays and Fridays, the flight leaves at dawn from Iguazú and returns from Peru at noon.”
Leopoldo Lucas emphasized that it is a very beneficial flight, which unites two Wonders of the World and Peruvian and international tourists can come on a direct flight to the Iguazu Falls, and vice versa from Iguazú to Peru.
He also highlighted “we can travel to Peru, and to the rest of the world via Peru and if one looks at schedules and rates it is very beneficial for everyone,” both to organize trips and getaways, as well as for other international trips via Peru.
Good expectations for 2026
On the other hand, the president of Iturem indicated that “we closed a very good 2025, we had many events in the destination. In that sense, we must highlight the event and convention center for 9 thousand people that we inaugurated this year, that opens up another panorama for 2026-2027 and the coming years, presenting the destination with an offer for major events. Today we have all the hotel offer, gastronomy, attractions, travel agencies, and the wonderful Iguazú Falls, accompanied by a large event and convention center, which we open this year with an event for 850 travel agents, something very important for us because they are the organizers and those who sell the events, and they participated seeing how everything works and they took a wonderful experience.”
As for the expectations for 2026, he said that “every time we close a year we talk about all the work we did, we see the results and we see that we are well, so we are going to continue working, we are motivated to do it, the balance we make of the year is very good.”
He also added “there are good expectations for this summer, which is the high season of national tourism, we are a destination that is prepared for the summer, there is a good level of reservations, and we know that many tourists will arrive with their own vehicle very close to the date making their reservations. In addition, tourists will also come for one or two nights at the destination and all that generates very good expectations.”
And he said “for the next few months we are already focused on some actions that we had applied this year and we will replicate them again next year, so that we can also have the months of March, April, May and June that are a little lower, movement of tourists here in the destination.”
Finally, he said “from January 21 to 25 we will be participating in Fitur Madrid, in this fair that is a very important stained glass window and that opens the calendar of fairs around the world. We have already received the invitation from Inprotur, so we will be there with the private sector and the Ministry of Tourism of the province, showing the destination in its fullness and seeing what panorama we will have for the international destination in 2026.”
In Brazil
In Brazil, the Iguazú National Park reached a historical record of visits on Monday, December 29, officially registering 2,020,359 visitors in 2025.
The figure, accounted for by Urbia+Cataratas, the unit’s tourist visit manager, represents the largest movement since 2019 and consolidates the Iguazú Falls as one of the most coveted natural destinations on the planet.
According to the executive director of Urbia+Cataratas, Mario Macedo Junior, the 2025 record represents a milestone for Brazilian tourism and a source of pride for the city and neighboring municipalities. “The result demonstrates the power of nature as an economic and social asset and confirms the success of the park management model. This figure reflects the relevance of the Iguazú National Park as one of the most desired destinations in the world. It is an achievement that motivates us to continue innovating and offering unique experiences that promote longer stays and benefit the entire region,” he emphasized.
