The airline Level announced the start of the direct flight Barcelona-Lima, an operation of high strategic value that establishes the non-stop air connection between the Catalan capital and Peru, and that will contribute significantly to the recovery and strengthening of the tourist and commercial flow between both destinations.
The Barcelona-Lima route will begin operating from June 3, 2026, with a frequency of three weekly flights (Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). And as part of its launch, the airline will offer a promotional rate from US $369 per leg.
With this operation, LEVEL becomes the only airline that offers direct flights between Barcelona, from Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat airport, and Lima, through the New Jorge Chávez International Airport.
The beginning of this route has a special meaning for Peru and Spain, by bringing together two countries united by deep historical, cultural and economic ties. Peru has several interesting attractions for visitors, among them is Machu Picchu – one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, and the Amazon – one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
The Barcelona-Lima flight will allow more efficient travel for international tourists, strengthen the country’s air connectivity and expand access options from one of the main hubs in southern Europe.
This announcement is the result of the sustained promotional work to strengthen international air connectivity, led by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) and PromPerú, in strategic events such as Routes World, the main global meeting of airlines and destinations. In that space, representatives of the vice ministry of Tourism and PromPerú hold meetings in which key indicators on the potential of the destination Peru are presented, with the aim of increasing air connectivity and facilitating greater access for international tourists to the country.
About the Spanish market
Spain is consolidated as the main issuing market for European tourists to Peru and the seventh internationally. According to PromPerú’s 2024 Spanish Tourist Profile, this traveler records an average expense of USD 1,840 and an average stay of 15 nights, which shows its high economic impact on Peruvian destinations.
Between January and November 2025, Peru received 3,130,121 international tourists, of which 130,967 were of Spanish nationality, a figure that represents a growth of 4.4% compared to the same period in 2024 (125,433).
